As an ode to the role terroir plays in wine making and the fine old game of cricket, we built the Welbedacht Cricket Oval on our farm and nestled it into the same terroir as the vineyards that produce our flagship and award winning wine ‘Cricket Pitch’.

This amazing Bordeaux-style blend reminds one of how nature affects wine making and influences the game. Terroir determines the unique character of each cultivar that is carefully blended into this wine.

Similarly, the terroir of the cricket pitch – facets such as grass growth, moisture and wind – determines how each team approach the contest. Spin or fast bowling, field settings and strategy are pitched against the batsmen deciding which shots they use in their attempt to accumulate runs.
